Jerome Family Scholarship

This scholarship is named in honor and memory of the Jerome family, who were immigrants from the Azores islands of Portugal in the early 20th century. They settled in the Central Valley of California and were farmers in the first generation, but the second generation were college educated and entered the fields of engineering, the legal professional and journalism. Both generations were also deeply involved in their communities through civic organizations, foundations and volunteer efforts. They also, at all points in their lives, reached out to give a hand up to individuals who were seeking to better themselves through entrepreneurial efforts or education.
